Hayes Valley has been waiting for the next batch of new construction homes, and 555 Fulton is set to meet that need with 139 units along with 29,200 square feet of retail space sometime in the next year. The retail area has been set aside for a chain grocery store, which has been sorely needed in the popular neighborhood. The new 5 story building features a modern facade, but not much has been revealed about the units or interior as of this writing (July 2014).
Plans for 555 Fulton include a good balance of one and two bedrooms, with only a handful of larger three bedroom units. The breakdown is as follows: 21 studio units, 51 one bedrooms, 64 two bedrooms, 3 three bedrooms.
On the amenities side, all that has been confirmed is that 555 Fulton will offer 148 off street parking spaces; however, only 70 or so will be available for residents, due to the parking required for the new retail space. The building will also feature as part of its retail area, a new public plaza on the Laguna Street side of the building.
Along with the plaza will come a considerable upgrade to the street-front landscaping along Birch Street, with new trees, ornate pavement, and planters. Early mockups of the building also show a sizable rooftop deck with dining, grilling, and lounge areas.
